Friday Night Scare

Around 9:30 last night I was trying to put the kids to bed. Sarah Grace was trying to help & was caring Lena down the hall against her will. Lena was so mad when I got to her that she started holding her breath. I was blowing in her face to get her to stop & all of a sudden she turned blue & became unconscious.
I don’t know how long she was passed out because I was so frantic. I immediately called 911 and the paramedics were here in no time. All I can remember is screaming her name to try to get her to stop and wake up.  It was a 10-15 second ordeal that seemed like minutes!  Shaun was at the ball game and made it home within 10 minutes. The paramedics looked her over and all of her vitals were good. My parents rushed over and she wanted to go home with them. She was playing and laughing the entire time the paramedics were here.  I guess I am going to have a temper tantrum child! I can honestly say that is the scariest thing that has ever happened to me! She is happy and playing great this morning. I plan to call the doctor on Monday to just make sure that crying hard can really cause this situation. Scary!!!

Have a Blessed day! Tracy

I normally don't comment, but I had to share this. My daughter has done this exact same thing. She had the first episode when she was 11 months old. Scared me to death!! She had cyonotic breath holding-happened when she was mad or hurt. Definitely get her checked out and metion this as a possibility to her dr.

I don't usually comment either but just wanted to let you know this is a fairly common thing in toddlers (but still incredibly scary!). They usually grow out of it and as scary as it is, passing out is the best resolution because they take a spontaneous inspiration. You can blow in their face too while they are crying and usually they will inhale!
