My Day

I have had some minor pain in my breast over the last couple of months. At first, I thought it was from nursing Lena for a year. I finally broke down a couple of weeks ago and went to see my Doctor. She found two small lumps in my right breast and thought I should have a mammogram. She was pretty sure it was nothing but wanted to be safe because of the pain that I was having. Tuesday morning I went to have my dreaded mammogram and it wasn't bad at all. They did an ultra sound around the area that was hurting and the doctor said everything looked great. However, he did find a calcium deposit on my mammogram and thought that it looked highly suspicious. So he wanted to do a biopsy right away. Calcium deposits are extremely common and are usually benign. In a few cases, calcification's can sometimes be a very early sign of breast cancer.

I went in this morning to have it done and let me tell you it was the worst thing that I have ever done. I was told that this would take 30 minutes to an hour and it was painless. Well that is the truth for most cases but mine was a little different. I was there for almost three hours and I couldn't move for about two out of the three for the biopsy. It turns out that my calcification is so small and positioned somewhere that it is very hard to capture. They were able to get approximately 2 out of the 25 that are there. The doctor sent those off and will hopefully know something tomorrow afternoon. She was concerned with my age, the number of calcifications, and the spot that it is located so she ordered me to have it surgically removed. Shaun and I meet with the Surgeon next Tuesday morning to go over everything.

I was in a lot of pain today and tonight but my family has taken such good care of me. My sister came over early this morning to watch the girls. She had my laundry done, my house clean, and lunch on the stove when we got home. My mother came over after she got Nat from school and brought us Brown Beans and Ham, a delicious roast, and fried me some potatoes with onion. I was able to rest most of the night and now I am wide awake writing this post. I am feeling better and I feel really good about the entire situation. I know that I have the Lord on my side and that he will be with me the entire time. Good or Bad news- I will stand strong in my faith and I will shine my light for Jesus Christ.

The doctor told me that the pain that I was having was a coincidence to him finding the calcification. I on the other hand feel that it was the Lord and will give him all the glory for this. I am 32 years old and would have not had a mammogram if it hadn’t been for the pain. Hopefully, I will know something tomorrow afternoon or by the end of next week. Please pray for me and my family during this time.

Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior… - Isaiah 43:1-3
