Question?

I have a question for those who read my blog.  Would you please leave me a comment and let me know what you think about the entertainment center?  Now that we are all finished painting and I have everything is back in place.  I was thinking about painting my entertainment center a creme distressed look.  Here are the tones of our living room so see what you think....
Remember we are getting really dark hard wood floors next month also!

Here is the entertainment center.  I am not sure why this picture is so dark.  It is a cherry wood and doesn't match any other wood in my house. I have always tried to stay with very dark woods.  I bought this about a year ago on Craig's List.  Its very sturdy but has several scratches on it that I could take out.

This is my entry way...  I was wanting to use the same paint as I did with this piece.  This was an old dresser that my mom picked up at a garage sale.  It was about the same color as the entertainment center.

I would love to know your thoughts?

I think the lighter color would be pretty, especially since it is a large piece, and it will be sitting on dark hardwood. Have you thought about a glaze over it? My cream cabinets have a slight glaze (I think it's called coconut glaze), that gives a slight contrast to them.

I think it would look great, especially since it would match the fireplace pretty well, (it also looks like a cream color.) I also think it would fabulous and would be a good contrast to the new dark hardwood floors you'll be getting.

I like the idea of doing the distressed creme. I think it would definitely tie it all together, especially with the new dark wood floors. Go for it!!

Hey girl,
You are queen of rehabing furniture and decorating (I hope you know that it has crossed my mind to fly you and Jennifer F to help me plan my future wedding...whenever that happens!).
I like the distressed look actually.
I think it will balance it nicely.
I stripped my carpets a few years ago and have old cherry hardwood and I have both black and white in my living room (radiator is white with an accent bench next to my door to store pocketbooks)...everything else is black...
I have gotten compliments for what it's worth...
I think the distressed white will look awesome.
(my two cents... :))

I would paint it, but not distress it so much. It should look a little more formal that the entry way piece.

Definitely paint it. It will bring all the colors together to have the entertainment center a light color. I agree, don't over distress it, but I sure love some distress on furniture with kiddo's in the house!

I think you should paint it :) It would flow more & match better.

I think you have OCD and spend too much time on that stuff. You need to grab a glass of sweet tea and SIT DOWN on the back patio once.

Go for it! =)

Love your blog, love your style!
I say go for it, paint it like the entry way dresser! I think it will really make a pop in the room. and will tie everything together.
I do have to ask.... can you please share with us, the steps you do to create those treasured pieces? I would love to try it on a "trash piece" I have sitting in my garage but not sure how to get started.
thanks

i am no way a decorator but here's a thought... since you have warm tones throughout the living room, what if you did a bold color on the entertainment center? like it could be your one piece that 'pops'. which could work against your wall paint color. i dunno... just an idea :) i'm sure whatever you do, will look fabulous!!! :)
